Who keeps Rotterdam best caffeinated? You decide.

Rotterdam’s Favourite Café/Roastery award is back this year, supported by Alpro!

The fun competition celebrates the local cafés and roasteries that make our city's coffee scene so special. During Rotterdam Coffee Fest, visitors can cast their vote for their favourite spot based on the experiences they've had throughout the year.

It's our way of celebrating the businesses that bring people together over great coffee and giving a platform to the communities to show their support.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We’ve updated the award format this year to simplify the process.

The competition takes place in two stages:

Nominations: Coffee lovers can nominate their favorite cafés and roasteries.
Public Vote: The 15 cafés and/or roasteries with the most nominations will advance to the final public vote during Rotterdam Coffee Fest.

Cafés and roasteries with business addresses in the Rotterdam area are eligible for nominations. Specialty coffee should be a core part of their business.
The SCA defines specialty coffee as:
“Specialty coffee is a coffee or coffee experience recognized for its distinctive attributes, and because of these attributes, it has significant extra value in the marketplace.”
Anyone can nominate their favorite café and/or roastery. You don't need a festival ticket to submit a nomination.
Yes! You can nominate more than one business, just submit the form again. However, multiple nominations for the same café/roastery from the same person will only be counted once.
I.e. one person may nominate 3 different cafés and they will all be counted. But if the same person nominates the same café 3 times, it will only count once.
Nominations close on 15 September 2026. After that, we'll announce the finalists.
Anyone with a valid Rotterdam Coffee Fest ticket for 7–8 November at De Doelen can cast one vote during the festival.
Visitors will be given a voting token upon entry to the festival. Voting will take place inside Rotterdam Coffee Festival, final details tbc.
No. Voting is only open during Rotterdam Coffee Fest on 7–8 November.
The winner is determined entirely by public vote. The café or roastery with the most votes will receive the award.
The winner will be revealed on 8 November at Rotterdam Coffee Fest and shared on our social media channels.
For fun. This award is all about celebrating Rotterdam's incredible coffee community. It's a chance for coffee lovers to recognize the cafés and roasteries that make the city's coffee culture so vibrant.
